Acceptable Use Policy

Rules for lawful and acceptable use of the Beebeeb service.

Initlabs B.V. 04 Acceptable Use Policy

Version 1.0 – 7 May 2026

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") describes which use of the beebeeb.io service (the "Service") is and is not permitted. The AUP is an integral part of the Terms of Service of InitLabs B.V., trading under the name beebeeb.io. In case of conflict between the AUP and the Terms of Service, the Terms of Service shall prevail, except where this AUP contains a more specific provision.

beebeeb.io is a Zero-Knowledge service. We have no technical insight into the content of your files. This does not, however, relieve you of the responsibility to use the Service lawfully. It is up to us as the provider to act once we are lawfully informed of unlawful use.

1. General rules of conduct

When using the Service you must:

  • Act in accordance with all applicable Dutch, European and international laws and regulations.
  • Not infringe the rights (including intellectual property, personality and privacy rights) of others.
  • Not perform acts that endanger the operation, security or integrity of the Service or the infrastructure.
  • Not perform acts that unreasonably disrupt the use of the Service by others.

2. Prohibited content

You are expressly prohibited from storing, uploading, distributing or sharing through the Service content that:

2.1 Is criminal or unlawful

  • Child sexual abuse material or material that promotes the sexual abuse of minors (Article 240b of the Dutch Criminal Code).
  • Terrorist content within the meaning of Regulation (EU) 2021/784 (Terrorist Content Online Regulation).
  • Material that incites hatred, discrimination or violence on the grounds of race, religion, gender, sexual orientation or other legally protected characteristics.
  • Material that incites the commission of, or facilitates, criminal offences.
  • Material that is otherwise contrary to Dutch or European law.

2.2 Infringes the rights of others

  • Material on which third-party intellectual property rights rest and for which you have no valid licence or permission.
  • Material containing personal data of third parties without a valid legal basis.
  • Material whose distribution infringes portrait rights, personality rights or other rights of third parties.
  • Non-consensual intimate images ("revenge porn").

2.3 Is misleading or harmful

  • Phishing material or content intended to commit identity fraud.
  • Misinformation or disinformation intended to endanger public health or safety.
  • Fraudulent material or material intended to deceive others.

3. Prohibited activities

You are prohibited from using the Service to:

3.1 Distribute harmful software

  • Malware, viruses, trojans, ransomware, spyware or other harmful code.
  • Tools designed to circumvent system security or to gain unauthorised access to computers.
  • Botnets or command-and-control infrastructure.

3.2 Carry out attacks or breaches

  • DoS or DDoS attacks, port scans or other forms of network attack.
  • Attempts to gain unauthorised access to systems or accounts of third parties.
  • Circumventing or breaking technical security measures, including those of the Service itself.

3.3 Mass or automated abuse

  • Spam, unsolicited bulk mail or comparable unwanted communication.
  • Mass account creation or automated abuse of the Service.
  • Use of the Service as a public CDN or hotlinking source, other than within normal use.
  • Cryptocurrency mining on the Service infrastructure.

3.4 Misuse of the Service itself

  • Reverse engineering, decompilation or disassembly of the software, except where mandatorily permitted by law.
  • Disproportionate burdening of the infrastructure by intentionally inefficient use.
  • Resale, sub-licensing or making the Service available to third parties beyond legitimate business use.

4. Notice-and-Action procedure

4.1 In accordance with Article 16 of the Digital Services Act (Regulation (EU) 2022/2065), beebeeb.io operates a notice-and-action procedure through which third parties can report suspected unlawful content. The full procedure is described in the Notice-and-Action Procedure, available at beebeeb.io/notice-and-action.

4.2 Reports of suspected unlawful content can be sent to: legal@beebeeb.io. A report shall contain at least the following information:

  • An explanation of why the reporter considers the content unlawful.
  • A precise indication of the exact location of the content (such as a shared link or file reference).
  • Name and email address of the reporter, except for reports concerning suspected criminal offences as referred to in Article 240b of the Dutch Criminal Code (CSAM), where anonymity is permitted.
  • A statement made in good faith that the information in the report is accurate and complete.

4.3 beebeeb.io shall assess every report carefully and in a timely manner and shall inform the reporter and (where possible) the user of the measures taken. Possible measures include: restricting access to the content, blocking a shared link, suspending or terminating the account, and/or transferring information to competent authorities where legally required.

4.4 Manifestly unfounded or abusive reports shall be rejected. beebeeb.io reserves the right to suspend the access of repeat abusers to the reporting system, in accordance with Article 23 of the Digital Services Act.

4.5 A user whose content has been removed or restricted on the basis of a report has the right to lodge a complaint via legal@beebeeb.io. Users may also use an out-of-court dispute settlement body as referred to in Article 21 of the Digital Services Act.

5. Important: consequences of Zero-Knowledge

5.1 Due to the Zero-Knowledge Architecture, beebeeb.io cannot view the content of files. This means that:

  • We cannot proactively monitor what users store.
  • A report via the notice-and-action procedure can practically only be effective for content that the user has somehow made public or shared (for example via a shared link), or for account-level measures based on other information.
  • We cannot comply with orders requiring access to unencrypted file content because we ourselves do not have it.

5.2 Nothing in this AUP detracts from the obligations of beebeeb.io under the Digital Services Act, including the prohibition on a general monitoring obligation (Article 8 DSA).

5.3 When we receive a report that gives us reason to suspend a user or block a shared link, we may do so without being able to verify the encrypted content ourselves. The liability for incorrect reports lies with the reporter.

6. Suspected serious criminal offences

6.1 When beebeeb.io is informed in any way of a reasonable suspicion of a serious criminal offence threatening the life or safety of persons, beebeeb.io shall, in accordance with Article 18 of the Digital Services Act, promptly forward the relevant information to the competent authorities.

6.2 beebeeb.io cooperates with lawful requests from competent authorities concerning child sexual abuse material, to the extent this falls within the technical possibilities of the Zero-Knowledge Architecture and is required under applicable EU and Dutch law.

7. Sanctions for breach

7.1 In case of breach of this AUP, beebeeb.io may, depending on the seriousness and circumstances, take one or more of the following measures, without prior notice:

  • Issue a warning.
  • Restrict or remove the relevant content or shared link.
  • Temporarily suspend the account.
  • Permanently terminate the account.
  • Rescind the Agreement with immediate effect.
  • File a report with the competent authorities and/or transfer user data to law enforcement on the basis of a lawful order.
  • Claim damages for harm caused to beebeeb.io or third parties.

7.2 The choice of a particular sanction does not preclude the later imposition of more serious or additional measures.

7.3 beebeeb.io is not liable for any damage resulting from the lawful taking of measures under this AUP.

8. Resource use and fair use

8.1 The Service is provided on the basis of reasonable use ("fair use"). beebeeb.io may impose limits on storage capacity, bandwidth, number of API calls and other resource use, in accordance with the specifications of the chosen subscription.

8.2 If use of the Service structurally exceeds what is considered reasonable in comparable situations, beebeeb.io may impose restrictions, offer a different subscription, or in extreme cases suspend the account.

8.3 Systematically publicly sharing content in a way that effectively transforms the Service into a public distribution service (such as a CDN or streaming platform) falls outside the intended use and may be restricted.

9. Changes

beebeeb.io may amend this AUP from time to time, for example in case of changes in laws and regulations or new forms of abuse. The most recent version is always available at beebeeb.io/aup. Material changes shall be announced at least thirty (30) days in advance via email or within the Service.
